Summary from Harwich to Harwich

Usually I make a summary now and then after a few days of travelling. So, this is the first and unfortunately also the last summary of this trip. I return home and will explain it later.
In Holland eveything went very well, from Alkmaar to Hoek van Holland (ferryport to Harwich) is a trip of 117 km and not too complicated, wind in the back, beautifull road, mainly along the seacoast through the dunes. It is normal that, on the first day, you get some small discomforts, small pains, but they also disappear rather quickly. I am normal (I presume), so I got some pains in my knee, ankle and elbow. A matter of overload, after all, 2 years ago I made my last trip of this kind.
After my arrival in England I found the first camping site 12 km from Harwich and the next day: buzz off, up to the north.
Nice countryside, nice roads, nice villages, nice people etc. but my knee did not recover in spite of my agreement with it to recover after a while. Here are only hills, but further on on my trip the hills will be much steeper and then I need a dependable knee.
I just finished a period of restricted sporting because of my knee (not the same pain), so I do not want to redo this period by making it worse.
In Bungay I decided, at last: this will not be the finest bicycling tour of my life, so return home!! I am contented with my decision and I will do nice things at home. After all I have been to the mountains already for a week (3 weeks ago), so nothing to complain about.
I consider this short trip, with very nice wheather as an exploration tour, probably for next time, although 30 years ago I also was here on my bicycle.
Tonight I will take the boat back to Hoek van Holland and tomorrow night I will be home with 500 km behind me instead of 3500 km.
